Guilford Township / Village of Seville Fire levy Information
The Guilford Township Trustees and Seville-Guilford Fire and EMS Department have worked together to provide financially prudent professional services to the community and maintain state-of-the-art equipment. Within the last few years full-time staffing has been added to provide 24-hour coverage to the residents of Guilford Township and the Village of Seville. The full-time staffing has enabled response time to emergency situations to be speedier. In addition to 24-hour staffing payroll, operating costs such as: insurance, supplies, repairs/maintenance and equipment, have increased our expenditures.
The Seville-Guilford Fire & EMS Department is funded by three levies. Each levy collects for five years before it expires unless voters approve a renewal or replacement of a levy. In 2007 when the 1.25 mill fire levy was approved, it generated $252,300.00 of revenue annually. In 2012 and 2018 that same 1.25 mill fire levy was renewed but continues to collect the same amount it did in 2007 even though our expenses increased and revenue has not.
With the goal to continue and improve services to the residents of Guilford Township and the Village of Seville, the Guilford Township Trustee on November 8, 2022 will be placing the renewal of the 1.25 mill fire levy and with an additional increase of .50 mills to the fire levy. The current 1.25 mill fire levy cost a property owner $32.62 per year based on $100,000.00 value based. To reiterate, renewing a levy simply extends the terms of the levy and does not increase your current taxes or the amount of funding the fire department receives. The additional .50 mills would cost a property owner $17.50 per year based on $100,000.00 value and would generate an additional revenue of $115,200.00 per year.
