Community Risk Reduction

Seville-Guilford Fire Department is developing a program to reduce the risk of injury, loss a of life, and property in our community. This is done by identifying and prioritizing risks and hazards in our community and working together with residents and employers on plans to prevent or mitigate them. We already have several parts of the program, functioning and in place. A Community Risk Reduction partnership with our community focuses our attention on being proactive to risk, not reactive. In the future there will be educational opportunities and programs for you to get involved in. We are excited to launch a full version of this program in 2023 and look forward to working with you on making our wonderful community a safer place to enjoy for everyone!

  • Emergency Responder Radio Coverage for new and existing buildings
New Construction
  • New construction, additions, alterations, and change of occupancy require a permit from the Medina County Building Department.
Fire Investigation
  • SGFD investigates every fire that occurs within our jurisdiction. Many times, we collaborate with the Medina County Fire Investigation Unit and the Ohio Fire Marshal’s office. By understanding what causes fires, we learn how to better prevent them and assist in prosecution of those who threaten our community by intentionally setting fires.
Public Education
  • Often the key to preventing fires and other emergency incidents is to provide education to the community we serve. SGFD hosts station tours. CPR classes. Fire extinguisher class, and several educational opportunities for local businesses and residents. Visit our fire safety page for more information or contact us 330-769-4112
