fIRE LEVY iNFORMATION
Operating costs for the fire department and demand for emergency services has gone up extremely since 2007. Together the Guilford Township Trustees and fire department administration have worked closely together to maintain a modern, community focused fire department. Significant enhancements have been made to the professional services we provide, such as full-time around the clock staffing and purchasing state-of-the-art equipment. All while staying within our budget on tax revenue created to fund the fire department in the mid 2000’s. Due to the significant increase in operating costs on items such as fuel, payroll, insurance, supplies, equipment and increased costs to maintain our building and fleet of apparatus we are asking Guilford Township and Village of Seville taxpayers to support a .50 mill increase in addition to the renewal of the 2007 1.25 mill fire levy on November 8,2022

NEW FIREWORKS LAW
Beginning July 1, 2022, a new state of Ohio law regarding consumer grade fireworks use, discharge and disbursement will take effect. After careful consideration toward keeping the safety and well-being of our agricultural community and densely populated village as our top priority, both Guilford Township and the Village of Seville have chosen to “opt-out” of allowing consumer grade fireworks. Effectively, this means the use, discharge, and disbursement of consumer grade fireworks will remain illegal within township and village limits.
Trick and novelty fireworks, which include sparklers, snaps, glow snakes, and smoke bombs are legal for use, but an extreme amount of caution should be exercised when using these products. Sparklers for instance burn up to 1800 degrees! Dry conditions exist in our area. Use extreme caution and ensure that discharged firework devices and sparklers are soaked in a bucket of water and fully extinguished before throwing them away.
Every year the use of fireworks results in injury, death and property damage across our country. You can learn about the increasing number of injuries and deaths due to fireworks by visiting the Consumer Product Safety Commission website. cpsc.gov/fireworks
Residents are urged to enjoy the many public fireworks displays in our area. Visit https://fireworksinohio.com for a list of upcoming community fireworks displays.
Thank you for helping to ensure that everyone in Guilford Township and the Village of Seville has a safe and enjoyable Independence Day Holiday!
